Kid Icarus: Infinite Underworld
A downloadable game for Windows
Kid Icarus: Infinite Underworld is an infinitely generating, arcade style, 2D platformer based on Nintendo's Kid Icarus. The underworld was thought to be the most difficult portion of the original Kid Icarus, how far can you climb?
Made as a summer project, the level generates vertically infinitely from various level templates. Over 10 different enemy types spawn randomly as you climb, but don't stand around for long since the dangerous Orne is always chasing you from below! To assist in your climb, shops appear with a random assortment of items that help with things from granting additional jumps, to curing curses you may have been afflicted with.

Kid Icarus: Infinite Underworld is an absolute gem of a game! The randomly generated levels keep the gameplay fresh and exciting, while the intense boss chase add an extra layer of adrenaline. It's a fun twist on the classic NES title, good work!
Thank you for the kind words! Cool to see that people still sometimes find this game!
This game is super addicting and I'm sure someday it will be popular in the Kid Icarus community.
Though it has extreme potential to become even greater than it currently is.
You should add more elements/content from the original Kid Icarus. I'll explain what they are and how much they reasonably cost.
Such as the following:
(Treasure Room Doors may instead be a trap room full of Specknoses.)
-------
(The extra enemies from the original game should spawn at higher meters to offer a more fun challenge.)
It would be such a phenomenal update if you can make this happen, Mathew.
Thank you for reading this.
Hello! Apologies for not responding to this message until now! I don't think I'll be updating Infinite Underworld, but I would love to make a sequel to it someday, although maybe without the Kid Icarus brand due to copyright. I really like a lot of your ideas, and adding more replayability via things like adding more enemies and items to make runs more diverse would definitely be a goal for a potential sequel . Something like including the Credit Card I think would be a good fit considering the game focuses a lot on shops. And also your idea for adding in the small challenge rooms like the original Kid Icarus was something I considered but didn't end up adding. They most likely would have taken the form of horizontal areas similar to the surface areas or dungeons of the original games.
For sure man. I'm glad It got your attention & thank you for making such an amazing game. My nephew beat my highscore haha!
Might have been fun, but I didn't really get very far. I guess a lot of folks seem to like having mouse buttons for attacking, but I've never been able to get used to that in 2d games. It would be nice to be able to re-map the keys.
This is a good game
